Bruce Springsteen 2025: New Music, Biopic & Bold Political Views Revealed

Bruce Springsteen Speaks Out on Politics, Preps New Music & Biopic Ahead of Tour Launch

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND — May 14, 2025

Bruce Springsteen, often hailed as one of America’s most influential songwriters, kicked off his Land of Hopes and Dreams tour with a powerful performance in the UK — but his thoughts remain deeply rooted in the political crossroads facing the U.S.

Speaking Candidly About America’s Future

In an interview with The New York Times this April, Springsteen revealed that while preparing the setlist for his latest tour, he was also grappling with America’s shifting social and political landscape. He referred to the current state of the country as a “tragedy”, shaped by decades of economic imbalance and political upheaval.

“The collapse of American industry and the widening gap in wealth have left millions struggling,” Springsteen explained. “It opened the door for a figure like Trump. And honestly, even though it’s hard to believe this guy was the one to rise, some people saw what they wanted in him.”

He added that recent events in the U.S. feel like something out of a dystopian novel. “We always told ourselves, ‘That can’t happen here,’ but it’s happening.”

Public Criticism of Trump

Springsteen hasn’t been shy in his criticism of former President Donald Trump. On stage and in interviews, he's referred to Trump and his administration as “incompetent, corrupt, and dangerous.” Trump, in turn, fired back via social media, calling Springsteen “overrated” — though fans of “The Boss” clearly disagree.

Despite his outspoken views, Springsteen remains hopeful.

“Our country has deep democratic roots,” he told the Times. “We’ve never had a truly autocratic government. I still believe the democratic spirit will resurface. Things will balance out eventually. Let’s hope.”

Upcoming Releases: Music & Movie

Springsteen fans have much to look forward to. Next week, he’s set to drop unreleased tracks from his archives — material that has been described as intimate and emotionally raw.

Meanwhile, a biopic titled Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is also on the horizon. Starring Jeremy Allen White (known for The Bear), the film delves into the creation of Springsteen’s legendary 1982 album Nebraska. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters October 24.

According to early promotional material, the film highlights a “hauntingly personal chapter” in Springsteen’s life, capturing the spirit of Nebraska — an album recorded in his New Jersey bedroom with a 4-track tape recorder and filled with stories of isolation, loss, and the search for meaning.

A Look Inside the Artist's Process

In his conversation with the Times, Springsteen offered rare insight into his artistic method.

“I don’t really start with a plan,” he said. “I write from what I’m feeling in the moment. That emotion leads the way, and I follow wherever it takes me.”

Final Thoughts

Between political reflections, a world tour, new music, and a feature film about his life, Bruce Springsteen is making 2025 one of the most impactful years of his career. He may be touring the globe, but his heart — and voice — remain deeply connected to America’s soul.
